So day one walking in the Alps. Fantastic weather. My thanks to my guide Phil from www.alpinetreks.co.uk
We parked and put on snow shoes for the first time ( think tennis rackets strapped to your boots).
We climber up though the tree line to approx 4900ft along a winding path, then out into the open stopping to eat our lunch in front of two alpine huts. Then push on up to summit. Planes passing, below us in the valley, para gliders rising on the thermals and in the distance the rumble of avalanches.
Phil told me I was on the second person to make it to the top of the people he had guided on the route.
On the way down a small avalanche happened in front of us and stopped 300 yards away from us. No danger to us and amazing to watch.
